Nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards.

I established the creative visuals for the film with director, Siqi Song. We held a lot of ideation sessions and prototyped different ways we could utilize felt and wool throughout the set design. The film had a monochromatic color palette and relied on textures to create variation.

Because it was stop-motion animated, everything in this film had to be designed and built from scratch. My research was limited — I leaned heavily on Siqi for guidance about life in China; she provided lots of family photos that I used as a springboard for my designs. Under my leadership, we had a small team of fabricators help us create the modular sets and some of the props.
