I joined this project as a model builder. The director had a clear vision for what he wanted out these miniatures. These buildings and cityscapes were going to help establish the film’s identity. They had to portray New York’s underbelly. I pictured a city that didn’t get enough sunlight. A lot of reference material and inspiration came from the photography of Weegee and the film noirs of the forties.

I designed, built, and painted the miniature prison and the majority of the city buildings.
